TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers on applying for a retirement visa in Thailand without needing to leave the country for the 90-day requirement. It's noted that if one is on a tourist visa, it may be possible, but complications arise if the visa has lapsed into amnesty. Key requirements include having 800,000 THB in a bank account for a minimum of two months before applying. Several commenters suggest that using an immigration agent might simplify the process, especially for those whose visas have expired.

As above, agent is the easy option to get the retirement visa reinstated. As he let it expire and went onto amnesty (that was a mistake) no other choice available inside the country. But, MAYBE in time of Covid, one could convince someone at local immigration. But is it worth the hassle

800k in bank account for minimum two months prior to application is a good starting point!

or show stable income . Better than locking money up.

You can Google specifics, have had for 15 or so years.

. If someone has been doing that for the past 12 months it's all good. I agree. I get 65,000 transferred each month, and as soon as I get it I can spend it, unlike the hopeless 800k sitting in the bank earning about zero in interest!

exactly. Make sure bankbook shows FTT as foreign sourced

Only if you were on a tourist visa although if that went over to amnesty then no. I am in the same position after living here 7 years.
