I'm staying in Thailand (and neighbouring countries, occasionally) for 4 months in total this year. 2 of those months have just ended, and with them the travel insurance from my credit card provider. Since I need to get a new insurance for the remaining 2 months, I'm wondering if it's better to get one from my home country (Poland) or from Thailand. By "better" I mostly mean the trustworthiness and ease of the potential claim process, but of course the price of the policy is also a factor.
As to the coverage, I just need the standard health-related stuff plus non-extreme tourist activities, like trekking, swimming or snorkelling (I'm guessing there's no policy that would cover riding a scooter without a Thai licence ;))
Would a Thai policy also be good for short travels to Cambodia or Vietnam? The Polish ones offer coverage for whole regions, like "SE Asia".

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on travel insurance for a four-month stay in Thailand and neighboring countries, particularly whether to obtain it from their home country (Poland) or locally in Thailand. Key considerations include trustworthiness, ease of claims, and policy pricing. The user also specifies their insurance needs for standard health coverage and non-extreme tourist activities. Comments suggest that getting insurance from a trusted home provider may be better, as many locals mention issues with claims on policies from international companies.
Just read the fine print, one guy now has go fund me page thought he was insured by his 1 year travel policy but was only for trips of 30 days at a time
If you are speaking of Medical/Health Insurance from "home", then I fully agree with you. Many such policies, including my own, include Emergency Care while traveling abroad.
I think some of the cell phone companies offer travel insurance, at least AIS sends me ads occasionally. Most of the big international companies (Atlas Global, etc) are nightmares when it comes to filing claims based on the reviews I've read. If you can find a reliable company that offers travel insurance from your home company, I would go that route. Just be aware it will be probably be reimbursement coverage, meaning you have to pay for everything now and then file with the company for reimbursement.
thanks for the answer. I actually have an anecdote to share on your last point: a friend recently had a minor incident with a faulty hammock requiring a few stitches and the clinic took his policy number (also a Polish credit card travel insurance) and nothing more - he did not need to pay upfront.
