I have a multiple entry tourist visa that requires I leave Thailand every 60 days. Is going to the border of Thailand and Myanmar at Mae Sai and just crossing and coming right back ok? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, crossing the Mae Sai border into Myanmar and returning is an acceptable way to reset your multiple entry tourist visa in Thailand. You will get a fresh 60-day entry upon re-entering Thailand. It's recommended to ensure you time your border crossing properly, ideally just before or on the visa’s expiration date, to maximize your stay in Thailand.

Yes. Just make sure you get a 60 day 'admitted until...

Thanks Tod, Yeah just need enough time to pick up some of that prime Viagra they are offering on the Myanmar side of the border :)
You can get Sidegra (generic viagra) in CM for 100 baht - I wouldnt trust anything you buy in Tachilek :)

depending on where you are it could be cheaper for you just to bounce out and back in at the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with burma. It costs 500baht (or a pristine 10USD note) to stamp in and out of burma.
There is no amount of time you have to be out of the country, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of burma, turn around and stamp right back into thailand.

Hi Tod, does this practice of stamping in and out still work? I was advised by Chiang Mai immigration office that it’s recommended to stay a night in Mae Sai as officers there are cracking down visa-bouncers.

Ching Chang I can confirm, you don't need to get a Myanmar tourist visa in advance.. just pay the 500
's advice. you need to time that last border bounce to be just prior to or on the "enter before" date on the VISA itself. That's the only way to get 8 months out of it, and then the 30 day extension on the last entry takes you to 9 months total.

Nice counting by Dave, but make sure the third entry must be made just before or on the last day of Valid Until/Enter before date on the Visa.

enter and get 60.
border bounce and get 60 more.
border bounce again for another 59.
border bounce for 60 more.
extend for 30.
Total time in country = 9 months.

On an METV just border hop. They don't count against your 2-per-year limit and often it is cheaper than paying the b1900 for the visa extension.
.
OP - yes, out and back on the same day is OK.
You will get a fresh 60 when you re-enter.
The only time you need to worry about an extension is at the end of the visa lifespan.

By the way you need to do it at an immigration office, not at the border crossing.
If you are in Chiang Mai go to the immi office there.
You will need to fill a visa extension application form,
Depending on where you are they ask for hotel booking and flight out of the country.. I have never been asked though.

I am 99% sure that is ok, but you can extend for another 30 days first. Then go out and come back for another 60 days + 30 days extension again.

No benefit in extending @ 1,900 Baht a time until the final entry. Make sure you come back on the final entry the day before the visa expires for 60 days stamp, and then you can extend that for 30 days. That way you actually get 9 months in Thailand on your 6-month visa.

Thanks Tim

If you have a real 6 month visa than every 2 month you can extend per 60 days total of 9 months depending on your actual entree date you arrive in Thailand.

Hey Mike . Im on Tao .I also have a multiple entry 6month visa. Can i extend @ samui after 2months for 1 month . Then do a burma bounce at andaman club . Stay another 2 months in Tao then extend in samui again after 2 months for 1 month . Total 6months . Then potentially do it all a 3rd time ?
Kinda repeating what you said but just confirming
