TLDR : Answer Summary
Based on comments from the community, an onward ticket is not required to obtain a 60-day tourist visa in Vientiane. Applicants typically need to provide only 2 passport photos and the visa fee. However, upon entering Thailand, travelers might be asked for onward travel documentation at the border or airport.

Vientiane does not ask for anything except 2 passport photos and your money. No onward travel or address or funds. But you may be asked when entering Thailand via border or airport.
