Is a tourist visa easily obtainable for families returning to Thailand with quarantine requirements?

Considering returning to Thailand at the end of April with my wife and 2 year old.

Am I right in understanding that a tourist visa should be easy enough as long as I pay up and do the quarantine?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering a return to Thailand at the end of April with their family and is unsure about the tourist visa process, specifically regarding quarantine. Comments suggest that the ease of obtaining a visa may depend on the user's country of origin and current travel regulations. Some commenters recommend contacting the local Thai consulate for accurate information and suggest using online resources and communities for assistance.

The process of getting a visa is embassy or consulate specific. Some consultants requires residency status and some don’t. It sounds like the OP doesn’t even know what country they are entering from or when.

The only people who would know the proper process is your local Thai consulate. Go to google and type

Thai consulate [country name]

There are also numerous Facebook groups that can help.

I see no value in keeping this post open. If any one disagrees, send me a message.

If you're from the right country you won't even need that. I just finished my COE application for visa exempt

3 weeks ago Bali announced they weren't re opening until April 2022... So maybe take that with a grain of salt mate

I actually thought you needed residence status though? We might be entering from Nepal. Thought we would need visa from dubai before we set off.

Do you mean you won't have the chance to stop in the country you have a residence to get visas before heading to Thailand? I heard there is a lot of variance between what different countries' Thai embassies are willing to do so I'd check. I my case ideal would have been STV - and everything I read made it sound like it would be impossible to get as a tourist in Korea - so I didn't bother trying. I heard something like a criminal background check in your resident country and so on. And you're supposed to apply in your resident country. I'm not traveling to the US during a pandemic, so no go. TR might have been easier, but the ROI is very low because 45 days + 30 extension for doing almost nothing (visa exempt) VS 60 days + 30 extension for probably doing a lot of paper work and depending on LUCK because I don't know if I can get a TR in Korea once they see I don't have a visa here. So I didn't confirm anything but went on my best estimates with things i read that my best move is just taking the easier route rather than gambling.

yeah, makes sense. Thing is, we’re reluctant to commit due to the ever changing situation. We are lucky that we are free to travel for a few months so we can play it by ear a bit. We’d love to go to Bali but that’s not so easy right now.

Nepal is the one that is wide open and quite convenient from Dubai. So we will likely land there with no set plans. It would be a massive bonus if a Thailand visa was a possibility, particularly as things seem to be opening. We will be double vaccinated by the time we set off which should also help!! Anyway, I will check it all out. Thanks for engaging and see you in Thailand. 😊

yeah, figured. That’s basically what we did last time. (Pre-corona). So looks like nothing much has really changed on this front.
