Hi All, I’m looking for an immigration lawyer to help me with my application and information on for the DTV visa for me and my family, We are looking to move at the beginning of July this year.
We are from Canada so I’m not sure if we should be speaking to the Vancouver consulate or an immigration lawyer from Thailand or who we should be speaking with. For those of you from Canada who have successfully gotten your DTV can you point me in the right direction of who you used?
Also if from Vancouver consulate for Thailand does anyone know if you needed 500,000 THB for children aswell? Or just the primary applicant and spouse? Trying to also figure out how much to have in our bank saved for when we apply.
Children will be homeschooled so not needing the education Visa for them if that helps.
Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat inquires about obtaining a DTV visa for their family, seeking advice on whether to consult the Vancouver consulate or a Thai immigration lawyer. They ask about the financial requirements, specifically regarding the necessary bank balance for the primary applicant and their children. Responses suggest applying through the Thai consulate in Vancouver, indicating that the financial requirement is typically for the main applicant only. Suggestions include using visa consultants or resources for straightforward applications.
While physically in Canada, apply online via the Thai consulate in Vancouver. You need to show 1 million thb for you and your spouse. It is very straight forward and quick. The main applicant applies first then once approved you then apply for spouse and kids as dependents. The consulate in Vancouver staff are super responsive and friendly via email and phone.
While it's better that you study and apply yourself but if you need an agency for sure then contact SIAM Legal (based on reviews). Please do your due diligence.
For Canadians, DTV has to be applied for outside Thailand, usually through the Thai Consulate in Vancouver. A lawyer isn’t really needed unless the case is complex and many people just use a visa consultant to help check the documents.
The 500,000 THB is generally for the main applicant only, not per child, though the consulate will look at overall family finances.
Homeschooling is fine if the kids come in as dependents. No Education Visa needed.
