How often can you border bounce?

I’m currently on my second tourist visa, I would like to go to tokyo and back before I fly to cambodia to apply for DTV visa. Is this possible? Or will i get into trouble when coming back from tokyo amd having my third entry in the country.

Dutch(The Netherlands) passport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around the feasibility of returning to Thailand after a brief trip to Tokyo while holding a second tourist visa, with an intention to apply for a DTV visa in Cambodia. Responses advise caution regarding the potential scrutiny by immigration officers upon the third entry and suggest instead using land border crossings or considering an eVisa application from the Netherlands. There are also mentions of previous experiences by others which indicate that the timing of entry and exit is crucial, and alternatives such as direct flights from Tokyo to Phnom Penh are recommended.

There are daily flights from Tokyo direct to Phnom Penh. Why do you need to fly back to Bangkok first only to fly to Phnom Penh and back? Makes no sense whatsoever.

With proper travel in between your stays there is no risk whatsoever. But why not apply in the NL via eVisa?

it's not wise to believe that.

What do you mean? It’s irrelevant where you actually are as long as you’re not in Thailand when you electronically apply or the visa is granted. Leave Thailand, as soon as you’re stamped out send the application and then wait until the DTV is approves by the Embassy the The Hague. Then fly back.

A friend just completed his 3rd land border run recently on Visa Exempt. So this is 3rd Visa Exempt this year and 2 extensions. As others have said it all depends on the border and the Immigration Officer.

3rd entry in how many months? If there is a reasonable period in-between exit and entry it is fine. Why not fly from Tokyo to Cambodia?

Taiwan seems to be a decent place to apply for people with all their documents in a row. Or apply in the Netherlands through the eVisa system as soon as you left Thailand.

Or apply in Japan.

Japan DTV application is only open to foreign permanent residents not tourists.

Suggest you forget about flying to Japan.

Your recent history of staying in Thailand using Thai tourist visas and extensions likely will put you on the radar for questions from Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival from Japan. Avoid flying into Thailand. Use LAND BORDER crossings. AVOID POIPET BORDER CROSSING.

Correct. He should fly from Tokyo to Phnom Penh (there are several direct flights daily) and then take a bus or taxi that terminates at the border, changing transportation on the Thai side.

The direct buses from Phnom Penh to Bangkok all use the Aranyaprathet-Poipet border crossing so should be avoided.

What a bunch of nonsense.

it's NOT nonsense. It's sound advice based on reports of many on Thai Visa Advice forum and other forums.
