Malaysian here. With the visa exemption scheme,

1. How many times can I fly to Thailand in a year?

2. What's the maximum total length of stay in Thailand in a year? (multiple entries). For example, 180 days in a year regardless of how many entries

Couldn't find this info easily. Appreciate the valuable information given here.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Malaysian citizens can enter Thailand under the visa exemption scheme as many times as they want by air, with no officially documented maximum stay or number of entries. However, after multiple entries and lengthy stays, immigration officers may question travelers, particularly if it appears they are attempting to reside in Thailand long-term on a tourist exemption. Recommendations vary from frequent travelers to take breaks in between stays to avoid scrutiny.

I know of no one who has had the 180 day rule enforced. I did multiple visa runs several years with total days exceeding 180

The only way to find out is to try go in and out and see what happen at the Immigration office ? Or either that talk to a visa agent and they will give you the spills . Educate yourself from more than one source other than social media

1. As many times as you want 2. There is no written maximum stay. But, if you're living the majority of the time in Thailand with only tourist visas or visa exemption there is a good chance you will eventually get questioned and possibly denied entrance by immigration. All it takes is one immigration officer having a bad day.

It depends on how you do it, if you return after spending just few days in another country and each time stay maximum number of days on exemption, after 2-3 times they will ask you a bunch of questions and possibly give you like 7 days stamp and recommend you not coming back for a while.

If you just fly in occasionally and stay a month or so, can be done up to 6 times. It will look like you're just traveling Asia, using BKK as your "base".

Thanks. I intend to use BKK as my "base" for traveling Asia as you mentioned. I'm getting different answers and couldn't find any legit info online. Wondering if it's ok for me to be outside Thailand for a month before entering again.

As far as I know, it's 180 days per year.

Read it somewhere in one of the forums/groups more than once, but no, I don't have other source than that.

About entry limits, 2 times per land per year, unlimited by air.

Rules depends on IO and port of entry. Bkk considered harder than e.g Phuket.

Regarding being Malaysian and land boarding was already cleared. Read above. Rest - I'm referring not to neighbouring countries, so easy to understand..- can enter through land boards, two times per year.

About 180 days per year, if you re read you will find what I've written, that I was based on information spreaded over the internet groups/forums.

The one I have posted is what use to be a reliable group called thaivisa.com that then turned to be named ASEAN now.

i am Malaysian and i have been entering Thailand by land numerous times year in year out. Many a times i would enter and leave and then re-enter the same day itself without any issue at all.

So i don't know where did you get such infos from.. 😅

This is fake, there is no rules. It's at immigration officer discretion. They are tougher in Bangkok airport.

365 days per year except the day when I visa run.

I think I was based on this

How many days where you staying during those 7 years?

@Lisandro ******
There is no such thing as 180 days per year. I've been here 10 years and the first 7 were on visa exempt and tourist visa only.

You can't find the information because it doesn't exist.

There is no law that limits the number of entries on Visa Exempt by air, or sets a maximum number of days you can be in Thailand on visa exempt.

But immigration officers will do their job, and probably by the 3rd time you try to enter after maxing out 2 exempt + extension they will be asking you a lot of questions and possibly denying you entry for trying to live in Thailand on a tourist stamp. Visa exempt is not a way to stay in Thailand long term.
