TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has extended their 30-day visa for the first time and is inquiring how many more extensions are allowed. According to community feedback, a tourist can generally extend their visa once for 30 days, and if they apply for another extension, they risk rejection or may only receive a 7-day extension. However, due to COVID-19, there may be options for longer extensions. The user also questions the necessity of having a departing plane ticket, suggesting they might have already purchased a throwaway ticket.

Covid came into play in March 2020, 1,5 year ago. You seem to tell us that you are doomed after entering Thailand a month ago without a visa.

It was your choice to come over without a visa, get the visa you need for the purpose and length of stay BEFORE you plan to live inside Thailand.

Now do I have another choice which would be to somehow leave the country for A-day or 2 then come back and then get an additional 30 days and if possible what country would I go to for 1 or 2 days and then return if this is possible so that I can stay in the country longer

The only country I heard of where it's possible to do a air-based border bounce is with Cambodia. It takes about a week, according to the report I received.

Of course, things may change at any time, and what's valid today may not be valid tomorrow.

if they are still selling the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, apply for that. The worse they would say is no. See my pinned post for more information

I’m assuming you’re from a visa exempt country. PRECOVID-19, a person can border bounce by land (crossing the border and returning) TWICE in a calendar year, and “unlimited “ by air until the passport control officer believes you’re abusing the visa exempt system.

A person can only get one 30 day extension of stay based on tourism on each tourist visa or visa exempt entry. If you apply again they may verbally reject you or give you a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp.

You may be able to get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. See my pinned/featured post for details
