Hi all travel to thailand 3 or 4 times a year for 2 months at a time always extend my 30 days at immigration, being that flights are getting expensive I'm hoping to just fly once from UK then maybe fly to Cambodia, Malaysia or whatever to then get back to thailand, how long would you recommend staying out of the country to get the 30 day on re entry I'm hoping to get a stay of 7-8 months as I've read you can fly in and out unlimited times unlike before

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) inquires about the optimal duration to stay outside Thailand before re-entering and receiving a new 30-day stay, citing frequent visits of 2 months at a time. Comments indicate there are no official limits on the number of entries but caution that excessive tourism activity can lead to questioning by immigration officials, advising a better route might be obtaining a multiple-entry visa or a Non-O visa for longer stays.

Providing you can show sufficient funds and a flight out of the country when your entry visa expires you will never get interrogated or questioned

You might get a suggestion that there are alternative visas available to help you but you will “Never” be questioned further

All the bullshit going around about being pulled aside and refused entry is total garbage

Remember Thailand want your $$$$

Your comment is laughable. Even with back to back TR visas you're most likely to be questioned on your 3rd one and definitely on your 4th. Many local Embassys/Consulates won't issue more than 2 or 3 TR visas and you'll end up with the dreaded 'red stamp' in your passport.

So what is your assertion that the OP "will never get interrogated or questioned" based on?

If you could please copy and paste something from an official Thai Embassy website that states the amount of times you are limited to flying in and out of Thailand during any given period then you have an valid argument

If not then all this bulsh*t about being pulled up on your 2nd /3rd Tourist visa entry into Thailand is totally irrelevant

I rest my case.

As soon as you are seen to be abusing the tourism entries (exempt or tourist visa) an Immigration Officer (not the Embassy) will give a warning that you could soon be denied without a proper long-term Visa. Plenty of posts on this group (and others) to that effect. Enjoy your rest.

If over 50 get an agent to do a Non O visa for you with multiple entry then you can come and go as you please 🙏

There's never been a limited number of times, so your information is wrong on that one. However forget about 7-8 months without a visa. Your best bet is to get a METV from UK before you leave. This will give you up to nine months with just two border bounces

Nothing has changed so I'm not sure what you mean "unlike before"

There's no limit to how many times you can enter without a visa if you're flying to Thailand. But eventually you're going to be stopped at passport control and they're going to ask why you're spending so much time in Thailand without a long term visa. Eventually they'll say you're abusing the system and you're not a tourist and they'll deny entry.

It could happen the 2nd time, 3rd time, 4th time, never. It's all at the discretion of the immigration officer you're standing in front of.
