I am about to submit my paperwork from the USA and apply for a 60 day tourist visa. Does anyone have any recent experience with how long it takes to process? If it matters, I was going to use the Chicago Consulate.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for a 60 day tourist visa application at the Chicago Consulate is generally quick, with many users reporting approval within 3 to 15 business days. Recent experiences indicate that it can take as little as 1 to 7 days for processing, with a few applicants experiencing longer waits. It is advised to ensure that all required documentation, including proof of accommodation, is complete to avoid potential delays or rejections.

Last November my 6 month multiple entry evisa (TM60) was approved in about a week.

It took 2 weeks and they rejected it because I had not prepaid a hotel for entire time. ( because I knew I would be moving on…)

I’m from USA VT. Why didn’t you go to Thailand get your 30 day entry then extend? Agents and US EMBASSY BANKOK. Is a much easier bath. I’ve done it myself several times.

It all depends on the Consulate/Embassy the application is being issued by.

They won’t process at a embassy or consulate. The guard at the door won’t let you in. He will say do it online at the website. GET GOING.

Avoid the DC office if at all possible.

Did mine thru Chicago a few months ago and it took 3 days from submission to approval. Very quick ( it was my second time in 12 months, can’t remember how long the first one took, but pretty sure that was also quick).

The NY consulate has been great. My last METV I received in less than 24 hours on a weekend. Never longer than 2-3 days ever even when we had to submit everything to them.

Took mine about a week for approval in September of 2022.

30 day visa on entry. What is the 60 day?

@Albert *******
It means a "60-days single entry Tourist Visa". You will get stamped in for 60 days, and can buy ONE 30-days extension on Immigration for 1900.- THB on top of this 60 days stay permit

It should be less than 15 business days at all the consulates in the US. But I haven't seen any reports from Chicago in a long time

is correct. unfortunately the Chicago Consulate or the U.S. based consulates does not respond to any calls since Covid. The online visa you applied for does get Chicago’s endorsement and final visa is issued in Thailand online. Website recommends at least 15 days to submit online applications and most people have gotten a reply in 5 business days.

5-15 days? The last 2 yrs ,my applications were sent to the Ottawa Canada Thailand Embassy E-Visa website 5-6 weeks prior to my flight departure.Both time I had to cancel and rebook.It need much improvement .The last time the Embassy called me at home to ask Re the date of departure,I informed the caller that I had cancelled the day prior due to not yet approved/received E-Visa,she said we are just now looking at your application (That told me they had totally F—-ed up.Application had been sent 5-6 weeks prior,hence the phone call.(They NEVER contact you at all (only email)unless other info required.When I stated this is the second yr this has happened She said ‘well’ just book another flight.Cost me $600:00 extra each yr to cancel/rebook.
