Hi ! I was wondering if the visa duration is calculated from the moment we apply and get granted or from the moment we are arriving in Thailand ? I want to apply next month but plan on going to Thailand in November so I don’t want to waist 9months in my 5 years

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa duration is calculated from the date of issue, not from the application date or the date of entry into Thailand. Applicants are advised not to apply more than three months in advance of their intended arrival date.

most consulates have a notice on their website saying do NOT apply for a visa more than 3 months before you're coming here

SO if you're coming here in Nov you wanna apply in Sept

Date of issue, and, in theory, unless you lie in your application (about the intended date of entry), they won't approve it if the first expected date of entry is beyond three months.
