What should I do if my 90-day report was considered late by Thai immigration?

So I get my 90 day report back, seems they haven’t accepted it, saying I was late even though it wasn’t due until Aug31st and was posted Aug 16th (they stamped it Aug 22nd). I can see they suggest I visit in person but haven’t given me a date to do so. Any ideas or should I just blag it like immigration appears to have done.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has faced an issue with their 90-day report submission, which was deemed late by immigration authorities despite being mailed on time. They have been advised to visit the immigration office in person, but no specific date has been given. Community members emphasize the importance of compliance with immigration rules and recommend seeking qualified advice rather than relying on informal forums.

We will see, there could be truth in this, they got the last extension of amnesty right ahead of others as well. But it's beside the point, as the 90 day amnesty ran out on 31 August anyway.

that's correct. For 90 day reports you now have to do them on schedule.

, Matty Penman, nothing in that article is fact. No amnesty extension has been approved. That story has not been published by any other news source, and seems to be manufactured from an older story by the Thai Chamber of Commerce making three different requests over the last two months, with no consideration by the government, and is seen as simply trying to again put pressure on the government. There is no truth to it at all.

It amazes me how people are in a country where there are certain rules. Follow them or seek advice from qualified people not on this forum

I don’t know Chris My wife and I have been here for 3 years on retirement visas and I report within 15 days for our 90 day report and never had a problem. I renew our visa each year without using an agency

immigration can make mistakes. Your comment isn't really very useful. This is a forum for exactly these sorts of questions, why on earth would you post telling people not to ask visa-related questions on a visa advice group.

I’ve been here 9, company used to do it so this was my first time myself and wanted to ensure all was ok. The agent has done his job, it’s someone at CW who hasn’t logged it on the system as they gave me the notice of next report themselves.

I changed visa inside country this year about a month after entry and my first 90 day was four months after my physical entry, 90 days after my change in visa. Chris also changed visa here, from tourist to marriage, he's not just talking about an extension.

I changed from a non imm B to a non imm O, 5 years back (HH IO) and my 90 days reporting did not change. The only possible explanation is that some offices reset upon the change of visa type in country. I however did not experience that.

If your yearly extension was issued on June 1st then your 90 day report is due 90 days from then. Unfortunately you're going to have to make a trip down there and deal with it, should just be a paper work thing, can't see them fining you. I'd wait until Wednesday though, Monday it will be a mad house.

I disagree his 90 days start from date of entry not his visa extension.

it does not. Your date of entry does.

That's incorrect. 90 days starts from the day a visa or extension inside the country is issued. IF you leave the country and reenter, your 90 days will restart from the date you entered. Since Chris was issued a new extension of stay after he entered the country, his next 90 day report is from the date the extension was issued.

I still disagree. I entered the country last on 26th October xxxx and did my 90 days. Due to reporting within the 7 days to either side the date drifted to the 18th November. I did my extension on the 1st October but my 90 day reporting date stayed the same. During my 11 years here and in different IO's thats how it worked. Yes what you say about reentering the country and resetting your 90 days is correct. I do not know who you are but your info is wrong about resetting through visa extensions. Just use logic, why would immigration say he should have repotrted on 18 June? Just maybe because it is 90 days after he entered the country.

I was made redundant end of February while on a non B extension of stay, went to the UK got a 3 month tourist visa suggested by the agent, came back and applied for a spouse visa (delayed a week as My previous employer hadn’t cancelled my B or WP) submitted application for the Spouse Visa was told to return and receive the visa a few weeks later, received it, got the notice of next 90 day report and thought that was it.

I think 2020 is just trolling me now, I’m waiting for Jeremy Beadle to jump out (only relevant if you’re from the Uk)

they made a mistake and you did not check the stamp. Even this stamp is wrong because 90 days afrer 1 June is not 31 August. You must check everything they give you, never ever accept that they will not make a mistake.

I just got the postal submission back today bud. I accept your advice of checking but considering the hoops we have to jump through I’d hope they’d get a stamp right.

many people have had problems with multi entry stamps being stamped single entry, wrong extension types and on entering they stamp people in for less than 30 days etc etc. Unfortunately your chance for recourse is small. Good luck.

true, but I did as I’m supposed to. Their implication is that I was supposed to report June 18th (I’d arrived in the country March 18th so that makes sense), but they don’t seem to have acknowledged that I got my spouse visa June 1st and received from them my next report date was August 31st.

visa and 90 day report is not connected. When you get your visa does not extend your 90 day. It happened to me a couple of years ago. My visa extension was in Sept. my 90 days was in Oct. I jus assumed that my 90 days started over when I extended my visa. When I went in in December they said I was late. But after explaining to them they just gave me a warning and it started over

I know an extension of stay doesn’t reset the clock to zero but a new visa?, even if it doesn’t then why did they give me this to say my next report was Aug 31st? They’ve clearly screwed up the paperwork.

as far as I understand, it follows the date of entry only. And after that follows the date you did your 90 days. But looks like they screwed up the date themselves when they stamped the August date

you are confused. Your 90 day report and your visa/visa extensions runs on different time scales. My visa are renewed every 1st October but my 90 day reports are done on 18 November and 90 days after that etc.

on which date did you enter the country? Your 90 day reports run from that date not your extension date.

. If you arrived March 18, your report was due June 18. It's a 90 day report of being in the country, irrespective of what happens in the meantime. This is Thailand. Think anal retention.

I get that bud, but why did they give me this on June 1st when I went to collect my spouse visa? Clearly saying next report was Aug 31st? I even asked for clarification that this was my next 90 day report and the agent said “yes, don’t forget”....he’s off my Xmas card list now.

I get it... the system is less than ideal, but they aren’t going to try to figure out who gave you bad information and make them pay the fine... Thai bureaucracy is truly a wonder to behold.

I think the popular saying is, “Welcome to the land of smiles...” 🙂
