Hey guys, how early can I extend my 45 visa exemption? Does it even matter?

I once read officers only accept it 2 weeks before the visa runs out but cannot find this information anymore.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The timing for extending a 45-day visa exemption in Thailand can vary by immigration office. Some offices, such as those in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Buri Ram, may allow extensions up to 45 days before the visa expires, while most others only accept extensions starting 30 days prior. Some sources suggest requesting an extension only within 2 weeks of the expiration date for better acceptance. Ultimately, extending the visa does not change the end date of the current entry stamp, and applicants can go anytime to the office for this process.

I‘d go to Phuket or Samui I guess.

BTW -- No, it does not matter. Extension is added on to end of your current Entry Stamp.

Samui immigration told me it has to be 2 weeks before it finishes.

Depends on the immigration office you use. Some like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Buri Ram allow 45 days prior. Most others are 30 days prior. Jontiem is a law unto its own. You may get away with longer but many reports say you have to be within 7 days of your stamp.
