Hi all, if I come in the country on a visa exemption 30 days, can I extend for another 30 days, a week before the expiration date? Does the extension start immediately, or after the original 30 days expire? In other words, does the extension start when you physically go to the office to extend, or can you ask for the extension to start after the last day of the original 30 days given? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you enter Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption, you can apply for a one-time 30-day extension at most immigration offices when you have 30 days or less left on your existing stamp. In Bangkok, you do not have to wait until the last week to apply for the extension; you can go to the office any time during that period. The extension period will start from the date you apply, effectively adding the new 30 days to the end of your current visa validity.

Yes you can if your passport allows. There are 9 countries that are exceptions to tourism extension - Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria, and Uganda.

At most offices you can apply for the one time 30-day tourist extension when you have 30 days or less left on your existing stamp, meaning you do not have to wait until the last week. Only at the Jomtien and Koh Samui offices do they make you wait until your last week.

Your time will be added to the end of your existing time.
