Can my daughter return to Thailand without a re-entry stamp if her passport was stolen?

My daughter lives in Thailand on a 5-year DTV Visa. Last month she flew to Italy and was robbed 3 days ago of her passport which contains her re-entry stamp. She does have the DTV letter from the Thai government. My urgent question is this: without the reentry permit stamp which was in her stolen passport will she be allowed to reenter Tylan through Bangkok as planned without being giving a hassle because she does have the police report or does she need to wait in Rome and meet the Thai Embassy to get a new reentry stamp copied into her passport?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A daughter lost her passport containing a reentry stamp for her 5-year DTV Visa while in Italy. Community responses indicate that she does not need a reentry permit with a DTV Visa, as it is a multiple-entry visa. She should bring a copy of her DTV documentation, a police report regarding the lost passport, and her new passport when she returns to Thailand. These documents should suffice for her to receive a 180-day entry stamp upon arrival.

okay I deleted the snarky and off topic comments

As people pointed out
@Sandra *****
your daughter needs to have the PDF print out of the DTV (as that paper IS her visa), the police report stating she lost the other passport and the new passport

When she arrives she'll get stamped in on the new passport for a new 180 day entry stamp

She's fine and far from the first person this has happened to.

Best of luck to her, safe travels

she did not have a "re-entry" stamp on her passport. She only had an "entry stamp" in her passport alowing her a 180-days stay. So she still has the .pdf DTV document. If she enters on a new passport and shows her DTV document, she will get stamped in for another 180 days

I take each time a photo of my entry stamp and have a pdf-copy of my passport.

If she had, maybe print-out in case of questions, because the e-visa mentioned the lost pasdport-number.

It's highly unlikely she has a re-entry permit as a DTV is a multi entry visa. Does she have a photo or scan of the data page of her old/stolen passport? That along with her new passport and a printout of the evisa should be all she needs to return to Thailand

Shes fine

There is no Re-entry stamp, print out visa with copy from old passport and ready to go

My passport is valid less then 5 years, the guy in embassy told me, the visa also valid with new passport, even made a note.

@Karsten *******
usually it is valid but you are still required to carry with you the expired passport. Not sure how it is handled when you don’t have the old passport anymore.

Which Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate (Where) did she apply and receive her DTV Visa from??

From what you have described, it sounds like she received a DTV E–Visa and the PDF File from the Thai Embassy/Thai Consulate is her DTV E–Visa

However, if the actual scenario is that if she received a DTV Visa Sticker inside her passport, then that is very unfortunate and that DTV Visa Sticker was her Thai DTV Visa

We were led to believe that the absence of a reentry stamp in her passport would invalidate her DTV Visa that's why I was asking on this very good forum to see what the real story is
Graham ******
@Sandra *****
It invalidates her 180 day stamp but the DTV is multi-entry so she gets a new 180 days every time she enters for the full 5 years validity

@Graham *****
okay if it invalidates her 180 days stamp but she no longer has the passport so there is no 180 day stamp in the passport because it is stolen and she'll have a new blank passport issued by the Canadian embassy in Italy, will she still be allowed to continue her DTV Visa on Reentry to Thailand?
Graham ******
@Sandra *****
But she still has the PDF copy of her DTV and her new passport

@Graham *****
she does have the paper copy of her DTV and she hopefully will have a new passport very soon. Will this be sufficient to enter into Thailand on the DTV ?

thanks for the information 😀

You do not need a re-entry permit when on DTV.
Andy ******
Why buy re entry permit with DTV?

don't buy again next time living Thailand, no need.

DTV is multiEntry Visa

IF she's on the 5 year DTV VISA, it's a multiple entry tourist visa... Good for a New 180 day stamp on EACH entry.

Have her get a NEW passport...

And when she arrives into Thailand

Give the Thai Immigration Officers the New passport and COPY OF THE DTV VISA.

She will be stamped in for 180 days.

FYI... she did not 🚫 have to purchase a reentry permit before she left Thailand. Possibly she already had a re-entry permit in her passport when she obtained the DTV visa.

@James *******
only thing I would worried about is the passport number on the visa and the new number she will get on a new passport
