Do I need to submit my passport when applying for a Non-B visa in Jakarta?

I will do my non B single entry application in Jakarta. My plan is to hand in all the prepared documents, then go to Bali for a few days to then return and pick up my visa in Jakarta. My question is whether I have to hand in my passport along with all other visa documents as well? I apologize for this somewhat stupid question, but I’m wondering - since this will prevent me from hopping on a plane, even domestically, if I don’t have a passport for the time my visa application is in progress. Appreciate your answers, thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they need to submit their passport along with other documents while applying for a Non-B visa in Jakarta, expressing concern about traveling domestically in Indonesia without their passport during the application process. Comments clarify that the visa process should be completed online via the eVisa platform, negating the need for in-person document submission or passport handover, and that approval notification will be sent via email.

You're more than a little mixed up 🙁

ALL visas for thailand sold at ALL the thai consulates in the world are done so thru the eVisa ONLINE web-portal.

That means you GO to the country of the thai consulate where you're going to apply, you log in, upload your documents, pay and then WAIT for that visa to be approved or rejected.

You do not submit documents in person to a consulate, you do not take your passport there or pick it up after

It's ALL online, if you're approved you will get an email with a PDF file in it, that IS your visa, and you print it out, show it with your passport to the officer when you stamp in and you'll get 90 days on entry

You can be ANYWHERE in Indonesia when you apply, you just have to be physically IN that country because you upload your visa/entry stamp to prove where you are and you use the address of where you're staying there as your "current address" on the eVisa application

Here's the eVisa website, make a log in / profile so that once you're in Indo, you can log in and start the application process

thank you for your answer! I will be employed by a Thai company and they told me to apply directly at the embassy outside of Thailand. They prepared a whole stack of documents (i.e. company information, DBD, statements, etc.), and also prepared the forms I needed to fill out. They even made me do professional fotos, health check up at the hospital, etc. So now i have this big stack of documents that they want me to take to the embassy and apply directly. It even says on one of the forms that I need to be physically present to apply. The person who prepared the documents for me is Thai and had done this process before apparently. So I’m a bit confused now..

you'll need to scan the documents, potentially combine multiple documents into single pdf files if you need to upload more than one document in any one section etc. I'm guessing the person that gave you the instructions has not done this since all of the Thai consulates moved to the evisa online system
