I will be staying at a friends house for a month or so whilst I search for a perminate address. In order to open a bank account ( I have non-o visit Thai family visa) can I just present a TM30 from my friends house, no residency certificate?

I am planning on opening the bank account at Bangkok Bank headoffice in Silom rd. Bangkok.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about opening a bank account in Thailand while staying temporarily at a friend's residence, holding a Non-O visa. They want to know if a TM30 form is sufficient, without needing a residency certificate. Comments suggest that requirements may vary and recommend confirming with the bank. Some users mention that residency certificates typically required for opening accounts, while one shares their experience regarding opening an account with a lease agreement and related paperwork.

I have a Condo lease agreement in udon thani. My sister who already has a Retirement visa and a BBL bank account in BKK would like to open a Kasikorn account in Udon Thani, I went with her to the UTH immigration and brought my lease and said my sister is staying with me and requested for a Certificate of residency. Besides the lease agreement, they wanted to see the ID and Blue book which was included in the lease agreement as well.

Ask the branch what they require. With a Non-Imm visa, they might not need a residency certificate - at least it seems to be more of a requirement for those without Non-Imm visas. But they might - problem is solved by asking.

Banks will require the residency certificate.

Why not just get the residency certificate? If you're friend had done the "registration of foreigner" shouldn't be an issue.

You could just ask the bank....
