How do I extend my visa exemption stamp in Thailand and what documents do I need?

Hi, I have some questions on how to do an extension for my visa exemption stamp received on 16th June and expiring on Saturday 15th July. Being my first one, I'm unsure about some details apart from the location being Laksi and I'd be grateful for any help.

As far as I understand the visa extension is given from the date you apply for it rather than when the original date expires? Can anyone confirm this is true? If so, how many days before do you recommend going? I was thinking two days so I wouldn't lose too many days?

I do have a TM30 from the place I'm currently renting, even though they have not filled in my whole name (I guess I'll have to ask them to redo it, if the immigration app allows that?). Does Immigration want to see a contract too?

Sorry for the many questions, I'm also looking at getting an "Education Visa" to actually learn Thai properly, so hopefully this might be the only visa extension I'll do (I only did STV previously).

Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
This user seeks guidance on extending their visa exemption stamp, which expires on July 15. They want to confirm that the extension is granted from the application date and inquire about the recommended application timeline. Additionally, they ask about the necessity of having a proper TM30 form and whether a rental contract is needed. A comment clarifies that the extension is added to the existing visa, allowing the user to apply now without losing any days.

So IF you entered Thailand on visa-exempt for free of the official fee, not an actual visa that you should have purchased before you travelled to Thailand, you can apply for 30 days tourism extension at the IT Square Laksi Plaza immigration office, yes.

What you understand incorrectly is, a tourism extension is ADDED to your stamp as a tourist (visa-exempt or tourist visa entry), not starting on the day of the application.

You can go anytime now, you wouldn't lose any day.

As long as your TM30 receipt shows your passport number correctly, you would be fine.

Thanks, a friend had experienced days being added from the application date, not the previous exemption expiry, so I wanted to double-check. Glad I wouldn't lose any day then!

, check the extension stamp immediately after you get your passport back from the officer while you are there.

IF your extension is less than 30 days after your current "until" date when you apply for a tourism extension on your visa-exempt entry, you can ask the officer to correct the "extension of stay permitted up to" date on the stamp to be "additional" 30 days.

, extension would start on the day of application if you apply for it for different reason from current stamp.
