Hi everyone! Just got my METV.

I’ve heard mixed things about how to extend it. I will be leaving every 60 days as required. If I do my last entry say 1st November (METV expires 15th November),does this mean I would get 60 days so be able to stay in Thailand longer? Thankyou
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around extending a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) in Thailand, highlighting that each entry permits a 60-day stay, which can be extended for an additional 30 days. Users express varying concerns about the future regulations that might affect the duration of stays, with some suggesting that METV holders can maximize their time in Thailand. There are also worries about potential questioning from immigration regarding frequent entries. New regulations are reported to mainly affect visa exemptions rather than METV holders, maintaining the current 60-day entries for them.

The new regulations only affect the visa exemption. Yes, on METV you are on an actual visa, 60 days per stay with eligibility to extend 30 days. 180 days total in country during the 12 month duration of the visa.

With the change from 60 days to 30 days being iminent, does this now affect the duration of the METV will you now only get 30 days + an extension or will the 60 days still + extension still apply?

OP
I was hoping to fly in maybe 7th November and get 60 days from there. Nervous of the uncertainty with the new regulations too!

Before I moved here I used to come to Thailand 2 or 3 times in a year, in over 20 years only asked once, "Why You come to Thailand so much?" My answer was, "I Love Thailand." Immigration officer smiled and stamped My passport.

What did you hear about extending it? I extended a METV two times in a row with no problems whatsoever.

Every entry gets you 60 days which can be extended for a further day so, if Immigration allows, you can get almost 9 months in Thailand if you exit and re-enter on or very close to your METV expiry date

The visa is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued. EVERY SINGLE ENTRY you make into Thailand during the validity of the visa will give you a 60-day entry stamp. If you enter Thailand on November 15th, you will get a 60-day entry stamp.

Some people get about 9 months out of an METV.

60 day entry + 30 day extension

Leave and return for 60 day entry + 30 day extension

Just before the visa expires, leave and return for 60 day entry + 30 day extension

Do be warned though that some people have experienced questioning upon doing this too quickly and the immigration offices asking why a tourist needs to be spend so much time in Thailand.
