In Hong Kong for a few days, I live in Thailand, Retirment Visa. I am trying to complete the TDAC but it’s asking me for return flights out of Thailand, I can’t ignore it as there are asterisks next to the boxes for return tickets ?

I was stuck repeatedly while using my phone. I used a laptop and no issues

That form can break easily.
You can use our free TDAC form as well which actually works:

You'll notice there is no asterix you can leave it blank if you properly entered your visa number.
Sometimes the website gets confused and your need to just redo it

I did enter it correctly but the asterisks on my phone were still there. As I said as soon I completed it on my tablet they disappeared. Doesn’t matter what device you use as they send the info by email.

even the visa number is not a mandatory field

You delete the return flight. The immigration guy showed me how to do it. There is a little button below the info text boxes.

You can ignore it. The asterisk only show up if you touch those fields. If you don't touch them then they won't be required.
