Looking for advice on the simplest or best way to cancel a " retirement visa" ( extension of stay) I have been offered employment and the employers are willing to do the necessary work regarding the work visa side, so thats not an issue. However, i am wondering do i just relinquish the retirement visa, do i notify immigration, is it possible etc etc. Tia.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your retirement visa in Thailand when transitioning to a work visa, visit the immigration office with your employment contract. The immigration officials will cancel your current extension of stay based on the employment start date provided. Make sure that this date is before the deadline to avoid any penalties.

Just go out to the immigration office with the contract from the employer stating that you will be employed from xxx date and they will cancel your current extension of stay effective that date. As long as that date is BEFORE the 231st of July you'd automatically go on to amnesty

seems easy why when I asked like that in phuket they always say.. Not possible without leaving the country? Do you have more tips for helping me, I have a retirement visa and have a contract already possible

I HAVE seen people cancel an extension of say based on "being over 50" (retirement) and immediately apply for a new extension based on employment. NOT all offices will let you do it. You are NOT wanting a new Non-B VISA, you don't need that. You want to change the REASON for your extension from one based on 'retirement' to one based on employment.

I certainly would be talking to your soon to be employer to see what they suggest you do BEFORE you go cancel your current extension

The employers take you to the immigration department anyway, so hopefully it can be sorted all in one go. Hopefully because of the amnesty, it may be easier due to not having to leave the country
