TLDR : Answer Summary
It is generally not possible to convert a retirement visa directly into a work visa in Thailand. Individuals typically need to apply for a new work visa (Non-B visa) and provide the necessary documentation from their employer, including labor office approvals. Previous experiences shared by expats indicate that transitioning from a retirement-based extension to an employment-based visa is uncommon.

There is no such thing as a retirement visa and there is also no such thing as a work visa.

Be that as it may...

I have seen people go from 30 day visa exempt entry stamps or 60 day tourist visa stamps to a 90 day Non-B visa inside the country

OR

I have seen people leave the country and get a 90 day Non-B visa from a thai consulate

BUT

I have never seen anyone go from a yearly extension of stay based on retirement (which I am guess you have) to one that is based on employment.
