Is it possible to obtain a work visa if I have a retirement visa.

It usually works like this; you get a job, get the documents from your employer, leave the country and BUY a Non-B <-( the B = business) visa from a thai consulate in another country.

No, you can not get a work permit on a "retirement" visa. If you look at the visa sticker, it says employment prohibited.
