ORIGINAL POSTER
Has anyone here ever had to apply for a Thai police clearance in order to obtain a visa for another country? I lived in Thailand for over 12 months so need a police clearance to apply for a certain Australian visa, however I lived there over two years ago and the application forms ask for things like current Thai work visa, resident Thai address etc, things which I now do not have. Would greatly appreciate any advice or experiences of other people who have been through the process.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirements for obtaining a Thai police clearance to apply for an Australian visa after living in Thailand over two years ago. The author seeks advice as they no longer possess a current Thai visa or address. Community responses suggest visiting the police clearance center, which provides assistance in English. Some emphasize the benefits of hiring an agent to navigate the procedure, while others offer direct insights about the process, including documentation needed and estimated processing times.

Go to the police clearance centre, they are used to dealing with foreigners, there are written guides in English, the staff are very friendly and helpful, there is a print shop nearby for the inevitable paperwork. It takes about 2 weeks and you can collect it or have it posted.

again a question that 200 people will answer and 200 different opinions. Is not helping you.

With all questions about visa... visa offices but better immigration or embassy

Deslea Selmes nonsense, first time I did this was when I was 15 through the mail and a money order with no internet. Probably much easier now

Yes, I’ve had to do it for a US visa. The office you are looking for is at the police centre at Wireless Rd. There’s a building there where you’ll go to apply and they ask you for which country. They’ll take your fingerprints and you give them the required forms and and the fee - best to be in Thailand for this (will take 2-3 weeks to arrive at your Thai address. See here for the necessary forms / passport copy details etc -

- I’ve had to do police checks for both visa and work reasons (these are separate offices)- can be overwhelming but it’s very doable. Feel free to message if you need more details.

I am seeing so many comments about using an agent to do some of the simplest things I think these posts are probably by people associated with agents so do you own checking before spending your money on an agent. An agent might be needed but for a lot of posts I've seen it's not

My advice would be to visit an immigration centre. And asked them to apply for your visa. It can be a lot of hassle .

I would suggest hiring an agent to get this for you. Thai systems don‘t cope well with situations that don’t fit forms and procedures. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done, but a fixer will know who to get your request in front of to make it happen.
