Advice please. Entered Thailand with Canadian passport under visa exemption. Got a stamp for 30 days. No extension so far. Anyone with recent experience or knowledge about getting a 60 days covid extension of stay. Is it possible? Should I wait until my initial 30 days coming to an end (like a week before) to apply or should I apply ASAP? May I go to any immigration office or must I go to MTT? Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance. ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a 60-day COVID extension for a visa exemption stay in Thailand after entering with a Canadian passport. They have a 30-day stamp, with no extensions applied yet, and inquire about the timing of the application and the appropriate immigration office to visit. A comment suggests applying for a 30-day extension based on tourism first, followed by the 60-day extension. It notes that this process typically begins with an 'under consideration' stamp and specifies that applications should be made at MTT, Counter K, as no appointments are required.

The FIRST 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 USUALLY begins on the day you acquire the "under consideration" stamp.

GENERALLY, for Bangkok Immigration, they want you to apply for a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism, and then a 60 day extension of stay after.

The last day they are selling the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is November 26th.

>May I go to any immigration office or must I go to MTT?

You will go to MTT, Counter K. There is no appointment system.

Now, an unspoken question that you asked was:

"Can I get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19"

The answer...

"Maybe"

The 30 day extension of stay based on tourism is ADDED ON to your existing "admitted to" stamp. Bangkok Immigration allows a person to request an extension of stay when there's 45 days or less remaining on the existing "admitted to" stamp.

If you fall within the 45 days, before November 26, apply for the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, and you should be able to stay until January 25th. However, remember the 60 days BEGINS on the day you acquire it, so if the 30 day extension of stay based on tourism lets you stay until January 20th (for example), does it really make sense to stay a few days longer?

That's a question only you can answer.

thanks for the additional info. The stamp says admitted Oct 10 until Nov 8. If I apply for 30 days extension of stay it will take me to Dec 8. After that if I apply for 60 days covid on Nov 25 (let's say) it will gives me until Jan 24. It's an additional 1.5 months. Am I understand correctly? Thanks again
