How many people here applied for DTV and got a tourist/METV visa instead? Is it any common or just a few rare cases?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The occurrence of individuals applying for a DTV visa and instead receiving a tourist or METV visa is deemed quite rare, based on various comments. While there is no official statistic available, several community members mentioned only a few isolated instances, suggesting that the DTV visa application process generally runs smoothly with low barriers. Some pointed out that complications might arise when people attempt to enroll in short courses of three months or less.

It's far more likely to happen if you try and squeeze In with a course 3 months or less.

I think it is very rare. I have seen a couple of posts in this group from Japan and now one from Laos. No idea outside this group though

We can't say what the real numbers are because not everyone is registered on the Facebook group, but here there were just a few rare cases. From what I've read.

correct ✅...a few. Most get DENIED instead of receiving the DTV visa if their application is not approved for the DTV visa.
