My wife and kids from India were initially denied entry yesterday as departure was +17 days. I booked a bogus flight for an earlier date and they got their 15 day visa. So how and where do we get the 7 day extension (or denial with 7 day exit). We are headed to ko Lanta this afternoon for a week then back to Bangkok.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user initially faced entry denial but managed to secure a 15-day visa for their family. They sought advice on obtaining a 7-day extension in Thailand, with some community members stating that it is possible to apply for a denial stamp for a 7-day exit instead. Ultimately, the user reported successfully receiving a 7-day extension for 2000 THB at Krabi Immigration, highlighting the helpfulness of the immigration officials.

So we just left Krabi Immigration with a 7 day extension for 2000 THB. They were very courteous and helpful. I saw they had mostly 5-star reviews on google-a pleasant surprise for a government operation. Kudos! ππΌππΌ
It is NOT an Extension. Their application will be not approved, this not approved will be stamped inside their passport and they get 7 days to leave the country.
I think you MIGHT, (as in may be able to) get the 7 day application for extension denied stamp to leave thailand in a week IF you show you're leaving (which you already have)
GO to the immigration office in the area where you're staying as soon as you can and try to apply for it so that if they don't give it to you, you can make arrangements to get out when the 15 day VOA runs out.
Best case they'll give it to you, worst case they leave on day 15..
