TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats have successfully obtained a Thai driver's license while holding a DTV or even other types of visas like tourist visas. Key documents required typically include a residency certificate, a medical certificate, and a copy of your passport. Some users also mentioned that having an international driver's permit and a valid foreign driver's license can ease the process. Additionally, it's noted that you can seek assistance from agencies to expedite the process.

Hello,

It is important to know whether you have a driver's license from your country, whether it is in English, and if you also hold an international driver's license. You will also need a residency certificate and a document from a doctor. You will have to visit all the necessary offices and go to the Transportation Office, where you can apply for a driver's license. Alternatively, you can use an agent to obtain it relatively effortlessly. I can recommend the agency M-Thai Visa, M Thai Visa with which I have had very good experience.

You don’t need a DTV to get a license, I got one with a tourist visa and a residential address.
