What should I do if I was mistakenly stamped with a 30-day tourist visa instead of my non-immigrant visa upon entering Thailand?

I made a mistake and didnโ€™t look at my stamp when I entered Thailand (Iโ€™m acknowledging that now to prevent a scolding ๐Ÿ˜œ), but the officer at the Chiangmai airport did not see my non-immigrant visa and he stamped me in on a 30-day tourist visa. What is the best way to fix this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you accidentally received a 30-day tourist visa stamp instead of your non-immigrant visa upon entering Thailand, the best course of action is to visit the immigration office at Chiang Mai airport to have the stamp corrected. It's generally a straightforward process, as immigration officers can rectify the error. Alternatively, you can choose to stay until the tourist visa expires and then exit the country to activate your non-immigrant visa upon re-entry.

This is the post about what to do with the existing wrong stamp, not about what should do to prevent (as OP already understood and learnt).

It happened to my husband recently and he went to the airport. They corrected his stamp.

You need to check every time you are stamped in . It has happened to me twice one time on the land border with Cambodia and landing in Bangkok. The admins in this group will say the same thing.

No scolding necessary, ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Go to the airport and they'll correct the stamp no issue at all

OR

You could actually stay until that stamp runs out, even take a 30 day extension on it if you wanted to for 1900baht

THEN

bounce out and back by a land border to activate that Non-B single entry visa <- it doesn't expire until Apr 28th

The easiest is to go to the entry airport, Chiang Mai, to get it fixed. You can go to the main immigration office near the airport, but most likely they would send people to the airport to correct stamps if they entered through Chiang Mai airport.
