TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking help on how to demonstrate their UK state pension and other pensions to meet the financial requirements for a marriage visa extension in Thailand. With the UK embassy in Bangkok no longer issuing confirmation letters, they are looking for alternative ways to prove an income of more than 40,000 baht each month. Comments suggest that while previously an income statement was available, it has not been issued for years, and current options may involve maintaining a balance of 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account.

The DWP should email you every year to tell you the new pension rate

hi I have copies of my pension statement with me and one from my other pension provider.

you need 400.000.- THB in your Thai bank account in your sole name, and on the day of application to the "1-year extension of the stay permit", the money must have seasoned for two months. On some Immigrations they ask for a 3-months seasoning

@Robin *******
Thai Immigration does not acknowldege original or copied foreign documents

More repeats than on UK TV 😂😂😂

Sorry but the UK stopped already 5 years to issuing a income statement. And they never issued a verified statement.

You can’t do it . For your first year you will have to have 400k baht minimum in your account 2 months before the application date. For subsequent years you MUST have a minimum of 40k baht transferred into your account for 12 consecutive months before you apply and continue infinitum

@Will ***********
For the 40k/month transfer method you'd need to check with your Immigration Office well in advance if they accept this as many don't, only 40k income earned in Thailand

@Graham *****
I'm a bit confused, you're saying the 40k has to be earned in Thailand, how do you earn 40k in Thailand? I'm not there full time yet and planing either later 2025 or mid 2026.
Graham ******
@Ray ********
So you have to apply with 400k in a Thai bank account in most Immigration Offices
Ray *********
Hi Graham, I understand the 400k in the bank, it's your last sentence copied below I don't understand, ".........as many don't, only 40k income earned in Thailand" How do I earn 40k in Thailand? or am I getting this wrong?
Graham ******
You cannot as the British Embassy no longer offers that service for applications in Thailand. Your only option is to have 400k in a Thai bank account for the in country application.

Hi. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It’s so frustrating as me and my Thai wife have had a house

And farm here since 2013.

And as I said I have had a

Bangkok bank account for

The same length of time.

Hi. Lynnette. No I have not lived here all that time. Because I didn’t have the

40,000 a month with my pension. But now I have.

And when you look at the

Thai immigration they say

400.000 baht in your Thai

Bank account. Or if you are

On a pension you must show

40.000 baht a month to get

Your visa extension. And as

I mentioned earlier Siam Legal. Told me that a life

Certificate from the uk pension office would be okay.

????

@Robin *******
you've been here years so what extension are you on? Marriage? Retirement?
Lynnette *******
@Graham *****
once he's got that can he then additionally start sending the monthly amount into Thailand for a year. To switch to the monthly method after a year?

When I tried to apply three

Years ago I was £30 short of

Getting 40.000 baht a month

But there was no problem then just showed them my

Bangkok bank account.

Now the uk pension has gone

Up i now have the the 40.000

Baht and more each month.

@Lynnette ******
hi thanks for your reply. Okay but when I was in Udon Thani immigration they said get your pension confirmation and that should be fine.

And Siam Legal also said

That I should get a life

Certificate from the uk

Pension office and that

Should also be okay??

I have had a Bangkok bank

Account for many years now.

@Robin *******
they told you this because citizens of other countries get income affidavits ("pension confirmations") from their embassies. But YOUR embassy doesn't issue it any more. That's why you must use the 400.000 THB deposit, at least in the first year until you have gathered 12 consecutive months of 40.000.- THB transfers from abroad into your Thai bank account (not guaranteed if your Immigration will accept it = see John Stanners' argument)
Bob **********
@Robin *******
The only income certificate that they will take is from your embassy and the UK US and Australia do not issue them anymore it’s 400k
John **********
@Robin *******
I'm not sure what context they said this in? Were they just wanting to confirm the source of your money? Do you have a full 12 months of transfers into your thai bank account from overseas?

A number of immigration offices will now only accept 40k per month if it is earned inside Thailand but it doesn't sound like that is your issue
Lynnette *******
@Robin *******
you'd have to ask one of the admin on here. Sounds a bit confusing.
Graham ******
@Lynnette ******
Not all Immigration Offices will accepts that for marriage Extensions of Stay
Lynnette *******
@Graham *****
Ah, right. It's more for retirement?
