Does my fiancé need a Thai bank account to get a Nonimmigrant type O visa once we marry? Is that only required later on after he gets the initial 90 day entry? If it’s required, how can he open the bank account without a work permit? He’s currently here on a tourist visa, and we’re getting the marriage certificate before he leaves. We’d like to know if he needs to also open a bank account before he goes, and if so how? When he comes back again in a couple months he’s planning to move here, so we’d like to get him a Nonimmigrant visa instead of another tourist visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The fiancé does not need a Thai bank account to first obtain a Nonimmigrant type O visa upon marriage, but it may be required later for certain extensions or financial proofs. Initially, while he is on a tourist visa, he can open a bank account without a work permit, as some banks allow foreigners to do so under certain conditions such as providing a marriage certificate. It's advisable to check with local banks for specific requirements.
