TLDR : Answer Summary
To open a Thai bank account, you typically need a long-term visa (such as a NON-O visa) and a set of documents, including your passport, passport photos, a specific visa stamp, a rental agreement or a letter from your condo, and some fees for account setup. Tourist visas often complicate the process, making it harder to open an account without assistance.

Tourist areas like Hua Hin, Cha Am areas are very easy to get this done with out an agent, if you have a non immigration O visa or other long term visa (tourist visa is a problem).

Passport, passport photo, non immigration O 90 day stamp, letter from my condo, about 200 baht fee, hour waiting at immigration office and I had the letter for the bank. I went straight to Korsikan Bank, gave them the letter, 700 baht to open a savings account, 300 Baht for ATM card filled out paperwork and walked out with a bank account book and ATM card.

In total, just a couple hours and about 500 baht in fees.

Drivers license letter from immigration was another document I got from Immigration too, otherwise the fee would have been less from them.

That’s an easy and necessary ID if you are staying long term.

Tourist can get by on International Permit, but if you are here long term, required to get a Thai license which is super easy if you have a valid international permit already.

i visit my TH girl every month but only stay a few days each time as i work in Singapore, so i guess im ok for now without a TH driver’s license. The bank account is for easy payment of rental which i transfer from Singapore every now and then, also there’s a fee each time i use the ATM, as such im exploring the possibility and convenience of a TH account.

Usually all banks will require a long-term Visa, there will be agents that will assist in the right places for the right amount, but generally if you are on a tourist Visa, the banks will not assist
