How can I meet the hotel booking requirement for a 60-day SETV application in Mexico City?

I'm applying for a SETV in Mexico City and one of the documents required is proof of a hotel booking for the entire stay (60 days) in Thailand. I don't plan to stay in the same place for my entire visit as I want to see different parts of the country and not sure of exact dates that I'll be going to different cities. What's the easiest way to meet the requirement? Do people book one location for 60 days so they can print out a 60-day reservation and then cancel days once they arrive? Will hotels do that or do you know of a hotel that would?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on how to meet the hotel booking requirement for their 60-day Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) application in Mexico City, as many booking websites limit reservations to shorter durations. Comments suggest various strategies to address this challenge, including making multiple 20-day cancelable bookings through platforms like Booking.com, or checking directly with hotels for longer reservations. Others advise confirming with the embassy regarding the specific requirements for proof of accommodation.

And any Mexican wanting a SETV will get the right information in a email.

Just thought it would be good to include here in case someone needs to know. I'm not going to do that. I'll just come in on a 30-day exempt and extend it once I'm there. Thanks again for all the help.

So I just got an email back from the Mexico City Thai embassy and they do require proof of a reservation for every night spent in Thailand. This is exactly their reply: You can divide it into 2 -3 reservations. It doesn't have to be 60 days in one reservation. Just make sure that the reservations cover every night.

For example, if the first reservation is from 1 to 30 September, the second reservation should be for 30 sep to 31 oct. Not 1-31 oct, because the night of 30 sep will not be covered.

Easy peasy. I have a friend in Thailand right now. He is a Mexican national and applied for a SETV while on vacation in Hong Kong. They didn't even ask him for proof of a hotel reservation. Not even for one night. So, it's strange they are asking me for 60-days proof in Mexico City and I'm using a US Passport. Makes no sense. But there you go. That's Mexico for ya.

This is what you will need at any immigration office to get your 30 day extension

I'm thinking that's the way to go. I'm leaving just short of 60 days anyway for a meeting. I think I'll do that and return after that trip again for another 30-day exemption plus another extension when I get back

@Frank ******
then you could indeed just fly in on a 30 day visa exempt entry and extend that by 30 more days if you wanted to at the immigration office here for 1900baht.

I'm a US citizen with permanent residency in Mexico

If he is a mexican national he can't come in on a visa exempt. They have to buy a visa from a thai consulate before they come here.

I understand that. My original question is not about the form. It's how can one show proof of a 60 reservation the embassy asked for when no booking website allows you to book more than 30 days. There are no 60 day bookings possible online.
Tony *********
Glad I'm not a Mexican.

So he might be better off coming in on a visa exempt and extending that for 30 day's if he want's to stay for 60 day's

@Tony ********
you are confusing the application form with the requirements. The thai consulate in mexico requires you show proof of lodging for the entire trip. That means you make bookings and give them the confirmation. It has nothing to do with what you put on that one line of the application.

Then 90 check in with immigrants

I appreciate that. You may be right that the person doesn't know what they're talking about but that's what they said at the embassy here in Mexico City. Just so you know.

@Frank ******
so just put the name of the hotel you will be staying in.

I've never had to book a hotel for 60 day's and don't know anyone who has
Frank *******

Yes, it does. There is a space for the name of the hotel and the address.
Tony *********
See if you can print out a visa application form or look at one on there web site.

I'm sure they must be the same .

If it is it will say

Proposed address in Thailand

I just emailed them back to let them know that there is no website that will even let you do that. Waiting for a reply back. I will let you guys know what they say just for future reference.

That's what everyone is telling me. I have friends from Mexico that got a SETV in Hong Kong a few months ago and they didn't even ask for hotel reservations. But the embassy in Mexico emailed me when I inquired and said, "If you plan to stay 60 days, please don't forget to bring a hotel/lodge reservation for every single night."

I have not found a single website that will allow me to book that far in advance or for that many days. agoda allows you to book 30 days max, hostel world 2 weeks max

How about planning your trip the city's you want to visit and book a hotel in each city.

Try to find

Hop Inn

Thailand

I was in Bangkok and went to 13 city's all booked in Bangkok on line so you can do it from where you are.

But i would go to the embassy first and look at a form or maybe you can print one out and just give a proposed address

I think hotels will let you if you go directly to them.

That's great but that is no help for meeting the requirement of providing the embassy in Mexico City with a reservation confirmation for 60-days. That has to happen before I arrive to get the SETV.

I can't find a single website that will let me book 60-days or that far in advance. How do people get around this? I emailed the embassy here to see if they would allow fewer days booked. Fingers crossed.

Use booking.com and make, say, 3 cancelable 20-day bookings. Take the print out then immediately go home and cancel the bookings...

When I emailed them to double check the required documents they said, "If you plan to stay 60 days, please don't forget to bring a hotel/lodge reservation for every single night", unquote.

Yes, hence my question.
Tod *********
then that would lead me to believe that they're serious about proof of lodging :/

Lots of hotels on agoda or booking that do.. Just search for free cancelation.. No idea how strict they are there but usually a few days booked somewhere is Okey.
