Hi I am in Thailand on tour visa. I have been planning to convert to ED visa based on funds I left with. I think I'm really interested in the course and I really want to convert to ED visa before it's too late. I got around 40 days left on tourist visa please suggest me what to do. What do I need. Where to go first. How much in total I need. ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Thailand on a tourist visa and wishes to convert to an ED (education) visa. They have approximately 40 days left on their tourist visa and seeking advice on how to initiate this conversion, including necessary steps, potential costs, and where to start. A commenter emphasizes the importance of finding a school that supports visa conversions and warns that the process involves applying for government permission and may require a visa extension due to timing constraints.
That completely depends on what your school charges. You have to find a school first, one that supports converting to ED visa inside of Thailand. You need to hurry though, because your school needs to apply to the Ministry of Education for permission for you to convert to non-ED visa, and that can take a few weeks. And then you need to apply for the conversion with documents from your school, and you must have at least 2-3 weeks left on your permission to stay in order to apply for the conversion. You will likely need to apply for the 30-day extension if you have any hope of having enough time.
