Has anyone had a document notarized at the US Embassy in Bangkok? What exactly does the stamp say? I want to get something notarized, but I don't want the recipient to know I'm in Thailand. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the process of getting documents notarized at the US Embassy in Bangkok. A key concern raised is about the confidentiality of the location when notarizing documents. One commenter notes that the notary must confirm the signer's identity and will mention the location and date in the notarization stamp. Another commenter suggests using online notarization services as an alternative, which involves a video call for identity verification. There is also a question raised about the document's use in Thai court, indicating the importance of understanding legal implications.

Will the document be produced in a Thai Court for a legal matter?

Here's a notary stamp from the Embassy in Bangkok

You can do online notary. I have used it and it’s widely accepted. Very thorough. You sign up for an account. Scan in your document and then wait in a queue for a notary to do a “Skype” call to verify your info. They then return your documents notarized in full.

It appears it is legally recognized in all of the contiguous states of America except for Iowa:

yes it is. That’s what I used it for. Official business in America. Never heard a peep about it when I submitted it. All the notary’s on staff are Americans in America. I was referred to it by an American on this page and she said she used it for some pretty sophisticated transactions in America and also had no issues.

That's going to be pretty hard, because the notary has to identify who they are and will normally state "signed on this day xx/xx/xx at xxxxxx (location)
