Hey guys, I'm needing some advice please. I am currently in Vientiane to apply for my first education visa to study Thai language, as I handed in my paperwork I was immediately refused. The officer said that the paperwork was wrong and it can't have beginner and intermediate written on it. I called my school and they said they can send me the correct paperwork within one week and told me to go to Savannakhet to apply for the visa there. I'm just wanted to check if there is anything different in regards to the visa application from Vientiane and Savannakhet?

I'm an American passport holder.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced an issue while applying for an education visa to study Thai language in Vientiane, where their paperwork was refused due to conflicting levels (beginner and intermediate). They were advised to obtain the correct documents from their school and consider applying in Savannakhet. Community members suggested that consulates might not accept applications for multiple levels and encouraged exploring alternative visa options.

I doubt any of the consulates will accept your application if you're applying for beginner and intermediate. They will only accept level one . This has been the case for over a month now.

Major communication breakdown... :/

the sad part of it was NOT one person in the Ministry of Education knew this was changing because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office (that runs the consulates in other countries) never told anyone else until it became policy and people were getting denied :(

So sad for people really

thanks for pointing that out.

Actually they will accept applications marked either "beginner" (ต้น), OR "intermediate" (กลาง) OR "advanced" (สูง) :O they just won't take them marked beginner/intermediate (ต้น/กลาง) like the schools in have been doing for a few years now..

your best bet is to apply for a single entry tourist visa (if you can) OR fly back on a 30 day visa exempt entry (if you can) get new paperwork that is correctly addressed and try again. There's nothing more that can be done. AFAIK: no consulate in the area will accept that beginner/intermediate paperwork anymore.

thank you for the advice. I am going to wait for my school to send the proper documents, as another tourist visa or visa exempt may not look so great in my passport.

is going on for weeks, you can not follow two different levels of Thai language at the same time. New documents from the school and Ministry of Education are needed.
