Hello! Has anyone here had experience with depositing a check at Kasikorn at Tesco on Koh Samui? We have a pension check coming, and that's where we would have to deposit it, because according to our call with Kasikorn, we must deposit checks AT the branch where we opened the account.

As I said, we did call the main branch, and they said we can do this, but my daughter was refused when she tried to deposit a check a year or so ago.

Any insight would be appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses experiences with depositing pension checks at Kasikorn Bank in Koh Samui, including a previous refusal of a deposit and the necessity of depositing at the branch where the account was opened. Commenters suggest alternatives like sending the check back to the home bank, using Wise for transfers, and mention the ability to deposit checks via banking apps with other banks like Bangkok Bank.

bizarre rule. With Bangkok Bank you can deposit cheques via their app

I wonder if there is a cap. This one will be a large one

The app limits are adjustable within the app. the default is 50,000 but they can go up to at least 1 million and I don't know how much more

Now I'm confused because the 'Pay In Cheque' option is no longer on my app 🤪

We did, and the bank will not transfer to wise. 😢 Only a US bank or they'll send a check. This whole thing has been a nightmare. Even the social security office will transfer to wise!

you can open an account at the state department credit union, then deposit your check on the app. They alloe us expats to open accounts. I did it. DM me if needed.

Why not have SSA do monthly direct deposits into your Thai bank account? Not the very best rates, but once you fill out and submit forms, is easy, done and dusted, set and forget!

I might do that! Thanks! The payments should start this month!

Would recommend sending it to your bank in your home country, with info on the back, For Deposit Only. My experience here, is that it takes a minimum 45 days to clear, then sometimes they don't Must pay a fee also. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. My husband no longer has a US account. We will have to wait the 45 days IF they accept it.

you should always keep an account in your home country, makes somethings a whole lot easier.

Yes. We know that now. He has a US account on wise, but the firm with the pension recently changed its rules, and doesn't accept wise like everyone else.
