90 days report.

Applied for a non O on a visa exempt. Does the time on a visa exempt counts towards the 90 days ? I guess it does, just double checking.

What docs do you need now ? Did it online before.

And thirdly. Im currently waiting for my new passport to arrive from the UK. Can I do it on the old passport ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the 90-day reporting rule after applying for a Non-O visa while on a visa exempt status. They wanted to know if the time spent on a visa exempt counts towards the 90-day reporting period and what documents are now necessary for reporting. Additionally, they asked if they could use their old passport while waiting for a new one. Commenters clarified that the 90-day reporting does not begin until after obtaining the first-year extension and indicated that the user might need to report using the new passport.

I’m curious how you applied from visa exempt… you had a bank account with 2 months of money banked?

lived here and had a bank account here for over 20 years. Had to do some visa exempts for the first time in 20 years to get through a few months until I could get a retirement visa.

You got your wires crossed a bit.

You don't start 90 day reporting until you have your first year extension, that's when most offices will put a small paper in your passport showing when your first 90-day report is due.

So you don't have any 90-day report that you need to do. And you won't until you get your first year extension, which you probably will end up doing on the new passport anyway. ;)

While waiting for the Non-O visa to be approved (after converting from visa exemption), does the 'days out' in visa exemption freeze? I mean, will it allow me to stay till I get their answer, even if it takes longer than my initial day out in the passport?

no, you need to have the required days left on your current stamp when you apply for the Non-O visa to cover the 'under review' period

In Bangkok you need a minimum of 15 days to apply for an in country Non-Imm visa because it goes under review for 2 weeks. After you file the application for visa/pay the 2000baht fee they give you a receipt and it has a date of 2 weeks out stamped on when you come back

BUT

You're staying here on your current visa exempt entry.

They won't even let you apply if you don't have enough time left to cover the under review period

And in Chiang Mai you need a minimum of 15 BUSINESS DAYS (about 21 calendar days) to apply for Non-Imm visas up there

Thanks. Let me make my question clearer. If the process takes more than 15 days and I reach the stamped exit date of the initial exemption, is the under-review paper they gave me enough for staying in the country until I receive the final answer?

NO the process doesn't take longer than the under review period, IF you don't have the required minimum stamp time left they won't let you apply, and if they think you won't get the visa, they won't let you apply

I have never seen someone apply, then go back in 2 weeks and be denied the Non-Imm

And no, you cannot file online, no matter if you had done it before or not, because this is a new non-o visa and will be a new extension meaning the first 90-day report on that extension needs to be done in person.
