Do you need proof of employment for the METV if you're retired and only work on short projects?

Question..for the METV you NEED proof of employment? I work on and off, never more than a couple of months..not because I have to, but because I want to. Basically I sold my assets and retired very early, so money is not an issue, and I only work when I see a small, short project that interests me.

I understand that it might be hard for me to get the METV since I am neither a business owner nor am I employed. Is this correct?
Answer summary
The METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) generally does not require proof of employment for retirees or those working on short projects. You can apply as retired, providing supporting bank statements or evidence of sufficient funds instead. It appears that requirements might vary slightly depending on where you apply, but overall, self-employment or intermittent work does not disqualify you from obtaining the visa.

Probably depends where you apply. Most applications have a provision to show funds for those who don't work.

I am on a 6 month METV and retired. Only needed supporting bank statements, employment not questioned.

You're self employed.

I don't believe you show proof of employment when you upload your documentation, just proof of funds, lodging, flight in to thailand, flight out of thailand and then another flight back in <- to show WHY you need a 6 month METV

Have you gone to the eVisa online website and read the requirements?
