Hello everybody! Can anybody tell me if I need get two copies of Certificate of Residence from the immigration to get Thai Drivers License for both motorbike and car? Or I have to get only one Certificate of Residence and then can just photocopy it?

I'm aware that I need to prepare two sets of every documents if I'm applying for both motorbike and car driving licenses. But the Certificate of Residency part is confusing to me. Do I need to get two original Certificate of Residence from immigration?

Also, what are the documents required to get the Certificate of Residence? I have my TM30, Passport copies and rent agreement. Do I need anything else? Is there any fees involved?

Just for reference, I'll be applying at Jomtien Immigration, Pattaya.

Any info will be helpful. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for both a motorbike and a car driving license in Thailand, you typically only need one original Certificate of Residence and one photocopy, according to several community responses regarding the Jomtien Immigration office procedures. Although some users suggest obtaining two certificates to be safe, many agree that only one is necessary, as confirmed by experiences in various locations including Chonburi and Chiang Mai. The documents required for the Certificate of Residence usually include the TM30, passport copies, and possibly your rental agreement. Fees for the Certificate of Residence can vary, with some offices charging minimal fees or offering express service for a higher fee.

It's one original and one copy (or two originals if you're loaded) if you're applying for both licences at the same time. If you intend to return to the Chonburi DLT at another time then you will need two originals.

I'm applying for both licenses at the same time. Do the certificate of residence mention if it's for motorbike or for car? If it specifically mention that it's for motobike, then I guess I won't be able to make a photocopy of it and use it for car license, right?

Also, do you have any information regarding what documents the Chonburi Immigration asks for to issue the certificate of residency? Or is there any link/website I can get that information from?

Thanks for your reply. When I visit the immigration for the certificate, do I need to fill out two application forms and then present two photocopies of my passport? Or I just need to prepare one set of documents and just tell them that I need two certificates (one for motorbike and one for car)?

I had the luxury of my daughter-in-law completing the paperwork for me so I’m afraid I can’t answer your question. I didn’t need to submit 3 photos - one for each certificate and one they keep

No you don’t need two certificates from Immigration, Chonburi DLT accept one original and one photocopy when applying for both licenses. Immigration will tell you that you need two but you don’t. Save yourself 300 baht and just get one.

Original and copy should be fine.

The requirements for a CoR vary by immigration office. I don't know specifically what Jomtien asks for, but normally it's as you listed. TM30, passport, possibly rental agreement though I don't think that's normally required at most offices.

The price depends on the office and the time. For example some offices are free or very minimal charge if you wait for 1-2 weeks. But you can try asking if they can do it faster if you need it and they might offer an "express" service for 300-1000 baht.
