TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are transiting through Bangkok airport for 4 hours and do not need to collect your luggage, typically you do not require travel insurance or a fit-to-fly certificate. However, if you have to check in for your next flight and collect your bags, you will need to follow specific entry requirements, which include obtaining travel insurance with a coverage of $20,000 and a negative PCR test within 72 hours. Regulations can vary and may change, so it's important to verify current requirements ahead of your travel.

Transited from Switzerland (ZRH-BKK-PHN) last week and nobody asked me for insurance nowhere ; problem is that information is different depending on who u ask, where u look…..PCR or vaccination or PCR + vaccination + insurance….nothing has been updated, it’s just a mess
You are required to have $20,000 in insurance and must have a PCR test within 72 hours.

International transfers which entail leaving the aircraft must not exceed 24 hours. Passengers must be vaccinated OR have negative test and must have $20,000 covid insurance

Yes you definitely need travel insurance to travel through Thailand, I was refused boarding and then purchased insurance so I was able to get my flight
ok. I’ve been corrected and now see that you do indeed need insurance.

Removed incorrect information [Update: I was incorrect it appears you do need a PCR test and insurance to transit. Apologies for incorrect information].
If you have to collect bags and checkin for the following flight then you are entering Thailand and would need to obtain a ThailandPass and all that entails and do a one night stay in Bangkok.
My bags will go all the way through to final destination and ill have the tickets to all my flights but not on one ticket but two tickets as am using two different airlines for my whole trip
If your bags are checked through then there’s no issue. You aren’t leaving the airport.

The rule of thumb as I understand it is if you do not have to pick up your luggage and your airport stay is less than 24 hours, then you need nothing at all.

Craig Murray. Must have $20,000 insurance and EITHER vaccine certificate OR negative test.
