Good morning. I am aware that with the recently announced โ€œ Amnesty โ€œ that my visa is automatically extended to the end of July. ( My visa actually runs out next week ) My question being, do I have the need to visit the immigration office to secure the extended visa, or just do nothing and make a further application towards the end of July. ?

Many thanks

Colin

TLDR : Answer Summary
Colin seeks clarification on whether he needs to visit the immigration office after his visa is automatically extended due to the recent amnesty. Comments suggest that while the amnesty extends the visa until July 31st without additional paperwork, he has options to apply for different types of extensions. It is also noted that those on long-term extensions, like marriage or education, should typically secure their extension as they normally would.

you might wanna re-think that. If you are on a long term extension (education, marriage, retirement, employment, raising kids, volunteer etc) you should go get your extension like normal

IF you're still on that 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai that you got before you came to thailand, you have THREE choices:

1 - Apply for a year extension for 1900baht BEFORE your current 90 day stamp runs out by meeting the proof of funds of 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply and by supplying the documentation require

2 - Apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension for 1900baht BEFORE your current 90 day stamp runs out. This extension does NOT require proof of funds and only minimal documentation

3 - Do nothing, take the free amnesty until no longer than July 31st and watch the news for the borders re-opening and the announcement for what amnesty holders do when that happens.

your no.2 emphasises the word before. Is it not possible to purchase the 60 day extension during the amnesty period? In other words, a 90 day period has run out, and the visa holder is reliant upon the amnesty. Can they not buy the 60 days? A theoretical question and asking for a friend.

I have a bad feeling that when visa runs become an option again, they are going to be complicated by a need for a health certificate and insurance.
