Do I need to visit Chaeng Wattana Immigration if my Non O visa extension is ending soon?

Hi all, I'm confused regarding my visa situation. I'm on 90 days extension on a Non O 1 year METV based on marriage to a Thai, now my last day is on the 1st June.

My question is do I have to go to Chaeng Wattana Immigration or can I just wait until borders open up and make a ordinary border run? Thx in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is on a 90-day extension of a Non O 1-year METV based on marriage to a Thai. They are confused about whether they must go to Chaeng Wattana Immigration before their visa expires on June 1, or if they can wait for borders to open and do a border run instead. Responses suggest that what they have is an amnesty extension, and they should watch for border openings to either do a border run or apply for a one-year extension based on marriage. It's emphasized that the terminology regarding visa status is crucial.

and this is why terminology is SO important

:O

You were NEVER getting 90 day EXTENSIONS :O you were getting a new entry stamp from an existing year long Non-O visa.

When you go to the border you don't get an extension you stamp out of thailand, in and out of another country and then back into thailand to get a totally new ENTRY STAMP. :)

You will be on amnesty extension to July 31.

If and when border opens you will need to either do a border run to get another 90 days...or a new visa outside Thailand as you did before.

Watch for border openings...do it ASAP...when a border opens.

Don't try to stretch extra free days or your luck ..things can change quickly.

What's the reason for the 90 day extension that you were granted? I can't think of any extension of stays that are valid for 90 days off the top of my head...
