Do I need to upload proof of funds and an employee letter when applying for the METV for Thailand?

Hello,

I wanted to apply for the METV on the website but I was shocked that I didn’t need to upload proof of funds, employee letter or a reason I need the multiple entry visa at the supporting document step.

Is this an error? I don’t want to waste my money because I’ve heard they won’t refund you back.

Also at the step „Travel booking confirmation“ I can only upload one file. Does that mean I just need to book a one way ticket to Thailand? I’ve heard I need to book one ticket out within 60 days and back to Thailand just to show them that I need the METV.

Thank you in advance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application process for the METV has recently been streamlined, which means you no longer need to provide proof of funds or an employee letter. Users are advised to upload a combined file for travel booking confirmations, including outbound and returning flights, as only one file can be uploaded during the application. This change has been confirmed by several community members, indicating that the updated requirements reflect a broader effort to simplify the visa application process.

no need anymore

Why don't you just fly to Thailand and get your 30 day visa exempt then then extend that by another 30 days at any immigration office for 1900 baht, no need for all that paperwork and stuff if your only here for 60 days 🙄

I would like to stay 9 months straight if I could. It’s just to „show“ them that I need the METV

Got METV in may and now again.

Difference is no more need to prove you have money.

The standard visa also has much less info needed. I always email my additional docs when I submit. Seems they want to make things easier

Alright so I will combine all 3 tickets in one.

So if it’s not an error, I don’t need to upload proof of fund and employee letter or write an essay why I need a METV?

Just send it like that?

Thank you in advance 🙏

Oh and for the accommodation: can I book a hotel for just 5 nights or do I need to book it for 60 days?

@Leon ***
5 should be fine, you could upload a longer booking that is cancelable.

I recently got a single entry tourist visa, but showed a booking for 60 days. I don’t actually need a hotel at all so I used one from Agoda with free cancellation. It worked fine.

@Biff ******
did you apply for a single or multiple ?
Biff *******
@Christopher *******
single, but the principle is the same. They want booked accommodation, so I gave it to them, then cancelled it. If I had been going for a multiple, then I would’ve booked another for the dates I was entering Thailand the second time.

got it. Thanks !

you can only upload one file,

BUT

if you want an METV you should upload flight to thailand, flight out of thailand in about 60 days and then flight back a few days later to show why you need an METV

Put it all in one file to upload

we only had to upload our original flight,dated 6 months from the departure. Nothing else. Got our METV granted within 5 days!

, requirements would be different by embassies/consulates. It'd be nice if you could add which embassy you applied for and got your METV.

for me it’s Belgium

London. It took only a few days. It prompted us to add the first flight, which I did , which was 1st Nov-28 thApril plus bank statements and iID. I kept checking for the prompt for the second flight but instead, within 5 days we were granted our METV. I honestly thought it would be a SETV as we hadn't had to add anything else, but no definitely a MULTI visa!

which is great but doesn't mean that will work for everyone,

But good on you (y)

i have now my second METV , you don’t need to prove flight after your first vist. Just booking flight in and out Thailand first visit is ok

they announced in August they were streamlining the Tourist Visa process on the eVisa website..

It is not an error
