Help, I’ve applied for a visa. In the uk. But they’re asking me for my hotel reservation. But I own a condo. I’ve sent them a screenshot of the chanot & a page of the blue book. But it’s all in Thai.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has applied for a Thai visa in the UK and is being asked for a hotel reservation, despite owning a condo in Thailand. They provided screenshots of their Chanot and blue book but these documents are in Thai. Users suggest solutions such as reserving a hotel online for free cancellation, noting that both Thai and English documents are accepted at Thai consulates. They also discuss the quick response time from the embassy after submission and provide tips for handling communication issues.

I applied yesterday & they replied today. I’ve tried phoning them. But just keep going on hold & then I get an auto reply saying there’s issues with the system 🙄

Can I kindly ask when did you apply? And when did they request this information? Just trying to get an idea of time frame of once an application is submitted how long it took them to ask for extra documents

I recently applied in Hanoi, and they asked me for additional documents 48 hours later. I waited another 10 days for approval. I only paid for a hotel reservation for the first week of my stay, but they requested reservations for my entire stay (60 days in my case), bank statements for the last 3 months, and return tickets.

I applied at the London Embassy on 2nd November. Just recieved the e visa today. So took 23 days. It was in Pending Approval for most of the time. I think once it goes through the initial stage of checking documents it will most likely be approved.

oh thank you for this!! I was getting worried. I applied on the 13 Nov. Initially it was on processing- pending document check and then moved to processing- pending approval but hasn't moved since. Was getting worried due to not moving something might be wrong.

so tourist visa to prove you're just a tourist? I'd have given them a hotel booking, one that was free cancellation. Just in case they think owning a condo isn't being a tourist. Good luck with it.

There was a posting recently regarding those ‘false’ outbound flights that people obtain then cancel. Apparently Immigration take a dim view to these and have stated that there will be negative repercussions if found to have been used.

correct! The issue of “onwardtickets” was subject of a Phuket Immigration meeting recently. A fake onward ticket will raise a red flag, however until now only in case the traveller falls under closer scrutiny anyways.

When the new measures aimed at “visa-runners” were announced, an interesting remark was given by a Phuket based Immigration top official, regarding “onwardtickets”

“Many passengers create fake tickets by booking without paying or confirming their return flight”, Col. Rasarin said.

“We have strict measures in place to detect this. If a ticket is found to be counterfeit, or if payment has not been made, the traveller will be deemed to have not declared their innocence from the start and will be immediately deported.”

most hotels on booking.com or Agoda have free cancellation

So send the booking and then cancel, it's unfair on the hotels but it works.
