What should I enter for 'last port of embarkation' and 'vehicle number' when applying for a Thai visa from Laos?

Morning everyone,

I am about to submit my application tonight or tomorrow.

Something that changed and probably came with the recent update is the travel information section. It sais:

last port of embarkation

then choose the type of transport, choose from land, sea, air and

vehicle number

Pretty confusing.

Last port of embarkation I would put “Laos” in there as my trip to enter Thailand starts in Laos. I would enter Thailand by bus so I would choose “land”. How about the vehicle number? I don’t know when exactly I will be traveling and what the number plates of the bus will be on that trip.

Any suggestions for that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking clarification on filling out the travel information section of their Thai visa application, specifically what to enter for the 'last port of embarkation' and 'vehicle number' since they will be entering Thailand from Laos by bus. The community provides various suggestions, including putting Laos as the last port, using booking numbers for buses, and acknowledging that the vehicle number might not be necessary if traveling by bus.

Last country before entering Thailand. You can put in vehicle number etc before immigration

Vehicle number is probably more for your own car. Booking Ref number will be fine.

I put Thailand as last port of embarkation, since that's where I flew to Indonesia from, just before applying for the visa. That's the standard meaning of the phrase, but who knows if immigration mean something else.

Yea threw me that but I actually put my entry into Laos so if that’s wrong I’ll probably get rejected However it refers to the last place you visited on your current journey to the final destination for example if you’re travelling from thailand to Laos then Bangkok is probably the last port of embarkation I can’t remember what I actually put But it generally refers to the last place where you boarded the transportation mode e.g. if you flew from Bangkok to vent to N then Bangkok would be the last port of embarkation

Yes I absolutely agree with your interpretation but if Thai immigration understands it the very same way, who knows…

I would book a bus and submit the booking number if that’s acceptable. Can always cancel the bus and rebook if plans change. You can enter anytime you want from the date on the visa and by any means.

It doesn’t necessarily have to be true based on my experience. I booked a random flight for the date I planned to return using Agoda and entered the flight number, regardless of whether I would actually return to Thailand by air or by bus. I then canceled the flight booking once my visa application reached the pending approval stage.
