Hi, sorry if this has been asked multiple times, I did try and search before asking. But got boggled.

We are intending on applying for 6 month Multi entry visa. Flying from uk. So we need to show onward travel or can we book one way? Thanks so much in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 6-month Multi-Entry Visa to Thailand, you must show proof of onward travel. This can be a flight booked from Thailand to another country, such as Kuala Lumpur, which will also allow you to return to Thailand for another 60 days upon re-entry. You can apply for a one-way ticket but you will need to demonstrate that you will leave Thailand during your stay.

Two things. To apply for the Visa you need a flight out of Thailand. So you can book a one way ticket from England to Thailand and than a flight out of Thailand f.e. KL. The Visa is multiple entry and valid for 6 months, on each entry you get 60 days of stay which you can Extend with another 30 days at Immigration for 1.900 Thb or leave and come back for another 60 days before the Enter Before Date on the Visa.

Ok so do I have this right. I apply for METV I book an onward flight for 60 days time to KL. I stay a night and come back to Thailand which then gives me a further 60 days? Do I need to book onward travel to show in Kl when re entering Thailand?

thank you, I did read the website you suggested and it was very helpful, but we are Spanish residents, banking in Spain so Hull can’t help us, I did try 🙂

To clarify. A 6 month METV can be used for 8

months. The visitors starts 'ticking' The day you get it and thus if you get it today (5th June UK) it would expire 5th December. If you arrive back in Thailand just before it expires (say Dec 3rd - allow for contingency) you will then get a further 60 days taking you legitimately way beyond the expiry date which can then be further extended by visiting immigration and paying the 1900 THB fee. A ticket returning beyond the expiry date is within the terms if the visa. Hull are exceptionally helpful. Check the website and do as suggested: scan and email all the docs and they'll let you know in advance of any issues.

Bon voyage!

Peter Traynor so I should book onward ticket for 60 or 90 days ? 🙂 or does the onward for the airport just have to show I will leave at the end of the 6 month visa?

Lee Anne, you can extend the 60 day by 30 by going to a Thai immigration office.

If you have any worries and you don’t mind a day trip to Hull, you can email them all of your paperwork for them to check prior to going to get your visa. I’d definitely do this again when I get my next one as it takes a lot of worry away.

Thank you for the heads up. Unfortunately I’m in Spain at the moment and trying to decide if it’s better to use my Residencia and go through Madrid or use uk passport and go through Gibraltar...........
