Do I need to show additional funds when applying for a Thailand DTV for myself and my dependent?
Hi everyone, I’m looking to apply for the Thailand DTV as a freelancer. I have all my documents ready, but I just want to confirm a few things before applying.
I’ll also be applying for my wife as my dependent. Does anyone know if I need to show an additional 500,000 THB for her (1 million THB total), or can the same 500,000 THB in my account be used for both applications?
My wife doesn’t have her own bank account and we don’t have a joint account, so all the funds will be in my account.
We’ll be applying from Malaysia. I’m expecting someone to transfer the 500,000 THB equivalent into my account this week. Does anyone know how long the funds need to be in the account before applying? Do they require the balance to have been there for a certain number of months, or is showing the required balance at the time of application enough?
If anyone has recently applied from Malaysia with a spouse/dependent in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Malaysia requires funds to be seasoned for 6mths, plus 6mths accommodation booked in Thailand, notarisation of docs. It is the most demanding embassy for DTV approval. You should check the threads. Easier applying in other SEA countries. Penang is known to be "friendlier" than KL if you want to apply in Malaysia
