I have a question: if I apply for a 60-day e-tourist visa, is it necessary to show a return ticket, or is a one-way ticket also acceptable?🙂
Answer summary
When applying for a 60-day e-tourist visa for Thailand, it's generally required to show proof of onward travel, which can include a return ticket or a ticket to another country. Some embassies may specifically ask for a roundtrip ticket, while others might accept an onward ticket within the visa's expiry date. However, practices can vary by airline and consulate, with strictness altering based on recent deportations. It's advisable to have proof of onward travel to avoid boarding issues with airlines.

You won't be able to board your flight without a return departure. Insure your flights just in case you need to fine tune either of them it's worth it
Keith Mccue Thanks. I just got my tickets return 88 days. Applying for visa 60 days. But tomorrow I have to buy single ticket to Vietnam.( To show. ) I will leave Thailand
A tourist visa for 60 days + 30 days.( In emigration office)
you need to show ONWARD travel, so you could book a flight to a neighboring country... either get a refundable one, a cheap one you don't mind writing off, or take the trip; another option is to make this trip after 30 days and reenter Thailand for another 30. or, arrive on 30 and extend by 30 at Immigration for 1900 baht
Some airlines will not let you board without it. Some get strict if there have been a large number of recent knock-backs/deportations from Thai airports because of onward ticket issues.
You usually need to show proof that you will be leaving Thailand before the visa expires, when applying. This doesn’t have to be a return flight. Cheapest option is just to book a train ticket to Malaysia (Padang besar) or Laos etc. Then if you don’t use it, it’s no great loss.
Canberra didnt ask for a return ticket either time we have applied. Both times I gave them outbound tickets that were at around 85 days and they issued 60 day single entry tourist visas without comment.
This is embassy dependent. Some issues a tourist visa only with an inbound ticket, som require an onward ticket within 90 days and some within 60 days.
I uploaded a jpeg of the outbound section of the ticket and this was accepted...I was worried about showing the return later than 60 days...worked for me
